Thanks McDonald’s for Giving So Many Ways
Wednesday, November 24, 2010 - 12:53

Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario is truly thankful for our major sponsor McDonald’s.  Over the course of our Capital Campaign, McDonald’s has given in many different ways, helping us reach our 8.5 million dollar goal. In fact, $2.7 million dollars came from the McDonald’s family!

RMH SWO thanks Ron Wimperis (Regional Manager), Sharrie Hennessy, Julie Dennis and Jessica Risi (Community Relations Representatives) from the Southwestern Ontario McDonald’s Regional team for their extensive efforts. Ron, who has assisted as a volunteer, Board Member, and Chair of the Building Committee, has secured a pledge of $260,000 as a corporate gift. The McDonald’s Community Relations team; Jessica Risi, Sharrie Hennessy and Julie Dennis rallied the managers and crew from local corporate restaurants and have pledged to raise $40,000 to contribute to the Expansion.

RMH SWO thanks Rem Langan (Board Chair), Richard Ellis (President & CEO), Cathy Loblaw (Executive Director) and the Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada. This organization has committed to a gift of $1.76 million, which largely comes from proceeds of the ten cents from every Happy Meal sold across Canada. Together, these individuals secured a gift of $1.76 million dollars which largely comes from the ten cent proceeds from every Happy Meal sold across Canada.

RMH SWO thanks Ronald McDonald House Charities Global for their $100,000 contribution, especially Jackie Meara, Sr. Manager - Field Relations and Canadian Liaison.  RMHC Global raises awareness and support for Houses world-wide and is located in Chicago.

RMH SWO thanks 14 Owner/Operators from restaurants located in communities served by Ronald McDonald House across Southwestern Ontario, for their pledge of $513,000. The generosity of each Owner/Operator is greatly appreciated as they seek to support many community efforts.

Together the McDonald’s family is making our Expansion possible. Hats off to each and everyone!

We Did It! $8.5 Million Campaign Goal Surpassed!
Wednesday, November 3, 2010 - 00:00

The announcement was made at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn at the Extreme Campaign Kick-off event on Friday, October 29th over a lunch celebration decked out in a construction theme. Using video clips borrowing “move that bus” imagery from ABC’s hit reality TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition, the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of major donors was honoured.

Executive Director, Margaret Anderson, was ecstatic to get to this day saying: “I’m so proud of everyone involved. With the donations of many generous organizations and individuals, our House will be able to double in size so we can better serve the families of sick children who need us.”

The House will reopen in March 2011 with 34 beautiful bedrooms. The 20,000 square foot addition along with the complete renovation of existing space will make it possible to comfortably serve families from all over Southwestern Ontario for the next 20 years.

McDonald’s Restaurant Owners/Operators Put 8.5 Million Dollar Campaign Over the Top
Tuesday, November 2, 2010 - 00:00

Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario was the grateful recipient of a $513,000.00 donation on Friday October 29th. This donation was a surprise gift from the Southwestern Ontario McDonald’s Restaurant Licensees, completing the 8.5 Million Dollar Extreme Expansion Campaign for the House in London. With families using the House from all across Southwestern Ontario and beyond, this was the perfect way for the Restaurant Owners to help give sick children what they need most…their families™.

The announcement was made at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn at the Extreme Campaign Kick-off event on Friday October 29 over a lunch celebration decked out in a construction theme. Using video clips borrowing “move that bus” imagery from ABC’s hit reality TV show Extreme Makeover Home Edition, the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of major donors were honoured.

“As a group of McDonald Licensees in Southwestern Ontario, we are extremely proud to be involved and be able to support this very worthwhile endeavour,” said Rob Reid, franchisee in Exeter, Goderich and Kincardine.  The newly expanded Ronald McDonald House is located in London Ontario, beside the Children’s Hospital. For each franchisee, it is a local cause since families come from their communities.

Executive Director, Margaret Anderson, was ecstatic to get to this day saying: “I’m so proud of everyone involved. With the donation from the McDonald’s Owner/Operators and many other generous organizations and individuals, our House will be able to double in size so we can better serve the families of sick children who need us.”

The House will reopen in March 2011 with 34 beautiful bedrooms. The 20,000 square foot addition along with the complete renovation of existing space will make it possible to comfortably serve families from all over Southwestern Ontario for the next 20 years.

Fundraising efforts continue with renewed focus on the need to grow the operating budget by 60% to support the expanded and renovated facility.
